Diana Ray Letourneau joins XPRIZE with 15 years of experience in social science research and community practice. As Senior Manager of Technical Operations for the Adult Literacy XPRIZE, Dr. Letourneau supports the data, technical, and judging needs of the competition. Her experience at the intersection of program evaluation, social work, and research provides unique insight, aligned with the prize’s vision of empowering adult learners to improve their lives through innovative interventions.

Prior to joining XPRIZE, Dr. Letourneau was a Senior Research Associate at Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services, taking a leadership role in program evaluation of the Child and Family Division. She also served as Community Liaison & Analyst for the USC Center for Research and Innovation on Veterans and Military Families, heading up a county-wide survey of veterans in Orange County. 

Dr. Letourneau has held social work positions in Los Angeles’s Skid Row and research positions at universities, a think tank, the Program for Torture Victims, and United Way. Early in her career, an AmeriCorps VISTA year sparked her passion for finding innovative ways to use data and research in support of community health and social change.

Dr. Letourneau earned her PhD in Social Work from the University of Southern California, where her research centered on health disparities and cultural resources. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Welfare from UCLA and a Bachelor’s in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara. In her spare time, she loves bringing colleagues and friends together to eat, drink, and be merry.
